How to Use This Tool

  1. Select how many subwoofers you are wiring (1–4).

The Formula & Physics Behind the Math

Parallel coils or subs divide impedance; series connections multiply it. For one DVC sub: parallel coils = ohms ÷ 2, series coils = ohms × 2. For two DVC subs the four common nets are ohms÷4, ohms, ohms, and ohms×4 depending on coil/sub series-parallel combinations.

Frequently Asked Questions

What final ohms should I target?

Match the lowest stable load your amplifier lists (often 1Ω or 2Ω for Class-D monoblocks). Going below the amp’s minimum impedance risks overheating and protection mode.

SVC vs DVC — which is better?

Neither is inherently louder. DVC gives more wiring flexibility to hit 1Ω or 2Ω with multiple subs; SVC is simpler for single-sub installs.

Why is a load below 0.5Ω flagged?

Very low net impedance draws extreme current. Most street amplifiers are not designed for sub-0.5Ω operation and can fail quickly.
