Engine

Bore and Stroke

Cylinder diameter (bore) and crank throw distance (stroke) that together define engine displacement.

Definition

Oversquare engines (large bore, short stroke) often rev higher; undersquare designs can produce more low-end torque.

Stroking kits increase displacement while requiring compatible pistons and clearances.
